Dr. Elif Ugurel obtained her bachelor’s degree in Medical Biological Science at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, and completed her master of science and doctoral education at the Institute of Experimental Medicine at Istanbul University. Dr. Ugurel contributed to multidisciplinary studies in this period on Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neurology, and Hematology. Her doctoral thesis is on Complexin1 gene expression in Neuro-Behcet’s Disease, targeting microRNAs, and the genotype relationship. Dr. Ugurel started her postdoctoral studies in Molecular Hematophysiology Laboratory and investigated cellular factors regulating erythrocyte mechanical stress responses and coagulation mechanisms by proteomic and hemorheological approaches. Dr. Ugurel continues to work as a postdoc in KUTTAM studying erythrocyte membrane proteins, post-translational modifications, erythrocyte adhesion in hematological diseases, mechanical properties of blood cells, and their effects on functions of the microcirculation.
