Dr. Ulusu is a professor of Biochemistry in School of Medicine. She is interested in the biochemical and molecular basis of disease in diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, metabolic syndrome, energy metabolism and oxidative stress. She is technically skilled biochemist offering a history of proven performance in enzyme purification and characterization of enzymes, enzyme kinetics; the factors effecting enzyme activity, inhibitors such as various metals, various natural drug-like molecules, drugs, immunoprecipitation, analytical assay development and experiments on various animal models and aging. She handled thirteen projects [National (10) and International (3)] and she will begin another International project shortly ‘Targeting molecular pathways glycolipotoxicity by a novel carboxymethylated mercaptotrizinoindole inhibitor of aldo-keto reductase AKR1B1 in diabetes, inflammation and age –related neurodegeneration’. Currently running research topics are on Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes, metabolic syndrome, quantum dots and endocrine disruptors. For more information please visit her personal page.
