Dr. Atay Vural earned his MD and Ph.D. from Hacettepe University after completing the MD-PhD combined program. He used intravital and digital imaging techniques to study brain microcirculation in mice for his Ph.D. thesis. During his neurology residency at the same university hospital, he participated in research projects on clinical neurology and neuroimaging. Later, Dr. Vural worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Ludwig-Maximillian University Institute of Clinical Neuroimmunology in Munich with scholarships from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, European Academy of Neurology and TUBITAK. Dr. Vural’s research interests include neuroimmunology, neurogenetics, and neurotechnology. His research is focused on multiple sclerosis, autoantibody-mediated nervous system disorders, and rare neurogenetic disorders including motor neuron disorders, ataxias, and movement disorders.
