Dr. Ehsan Sarayloo holds a bachelor’s degree from Iranian University of Science and Technology in Chemical Engineering, M.Sc. degree from Sharif University of Technology in Biotechnology and PhD degree from Koç University on Chemical and Biological Engineering. During his master he worked on bioremediation of poly cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by newly isolated fungi in slurry phase bioreactor. His Ph.D thesis was about application of random mutagenesis to enhance lipid productivity of Chlorella vulgaris under supervision of prof. Halil Kavakli. During his Ph.D studies he optimized the cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris in photobioreactor for production of biodiesel and then successfully scaled up the system to 10,000 liter in outdoor open pond. In addition, he achieved generation some mutants with higher growth rate and lipid content by applying random mutation and then found some gens that are involved in growth and lipid production of Chlorella vulgaris by applying RNA sequencing on mutants and wild type. He has been working at Koç University Research Center for Translational Medicine (KUTTAM) as a member of prof. Dr. Nuray Ulusu’s research group, since August 2018. Currently he is working on lipidomics which includes investigation of new methods for extraction and analysis of different lipids from tissues and cells.
