Dr. Hamzah Syed, is an Assistant Professor in Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics at Koç University. He completed his PhD at the University of Liverpool in Biostatistics, with a focus on pharmacogenetics. He most recently has been a Post-doctoral Bioinformatician on the HIGH5 multi-omics programme at University College London (UCL), where he analysed rare disease study data, developed data integration models and software for power calculations. His research focuses on the conception and application of statistical and machine learning methods and software for multi-omic studies. He currently leads the analysis of several multi-omic projects to further understand the biological mechanisms causing diseases such as prostate cancer and bowel disease. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at UCL and a committee member for the International Genetic Epidemiology Society.
