Elif Uğurel

Dr. Elif Ugurel obtained her bachelor’s degree in Medical Biological Science in Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine and completed her master of science and doctoral education in Institute of Experimental Medicine in Istanbul University. Dr. Ugurel contributed in multidisciplinary studies in this period on Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neurology and Hematology. Her doctoral thesis is on the evaluation of Complexin1 gene expression in Neuro-Behcet’s Disease, the investigation of microRNAs targeting Complexin1 and the determination of the association with gene expression. Dr. Ugurel started her postdoctoral studies in Dr. Ozlem Yalcin’s laboratuary in Koc University and contributed in research projects on the investigation of cellular factors playing roles in the erythrocyte mechanical stress responses by proteomic and hemorheological approaches. Dr. Ugurel still continues to work as a postdoc in Molecular Hematophysiology Lab studying erythrocyte membrane proteins, post-translational modifications, mechanical properties of blood cells and their effects on functions of the microcirculation.
